Why do we collect information about you and how do we use it?

We understand the trust you place in us to take your privacy seriously and will only collect and use information personal to you where it is necessary, fair and lawful to do so.  We will collect and use your information only where:

  • It is necessary for us to fulfil our contractual obligations as set out in a scoping or similar document and agreed with you prior to any work commencing. To do so we will require personal information from you, for example your name and e mail address. Where relevant, we will also request your date of birth and details of your financial circumstances. 
  • It is necessary to meet our legal or regulatory obligations. For example, to verify your identity, for the prevention of fraud and meet any reporting obligations such as to tax authorities. 
  • It is in our legitimate interests to collate information about you to enable us to deliver appropriate information and guidance, so you are aware of your options, with the aim of achieving a good outcome. This also enables us to provide an ongoing service, where requested, based on your circumstances.  We can also engage effectively in investigating any complaint you might make in the future. 
  • We need to process your information to better understand you and your needs, to ensure our service is relevant to you, and to enable us to meet any reasonable known support needs in interacting with our service. 
  • It is in the legitimate interests of a third party, where applicable.
  • It is in our legitimate interests in analysing use of our service. 
  • We need to send invoices or fee reminder notices. 
  • Explicit consent has been provided to collect sensitive information, for example relating to your health, although only where relevant to providing an appropriate level of service to you. This includes making any reasonable adjustments to enable you to interact effectively with our service in accordance with our inclusive ethos. Disclosing information means we are better able to tailor our service to your individual requirements.

     

If you do not wish us to collect and use your personal information in these ways, it could mean that we will be unable to provide our service to you. 

Please note that, if you ask that we also engage with a third party such as an attorney or trustee on your behalf, we will also ask for their agreement to this privacy statement.
